Level 1
Our Level 1 Ballet & Tap Combination Class is the perfect next step for young dancers beginning their training at Dance Factory NSB. This 60‑minute class introduces dancers to two essential styles—ballet and tap—in a way that feels structured, supportive, and age‑appropriate.
In this level, dancers build on the basics they learned in Pre‑Dance. They start learning early ballet and tap technique and terminology, gaining the coordination, confidence, and musical awareness they’ll use as they grow.
It’s very common for dancers to stay in Level 1 Ballet/Tap for more than one year. This is true for all of our leveled classes. Dancers move up once they’ve mastered the skills for this level and are ready for the next step with confidence.
Our Level 1 Ballet & Tap Combo class is designed for dancers who are 5 years old by September 1st and ready to begin building strong, foundational skills in both ballet and tap. No prior dance experience is needed—this level is the perfect place to start.
This class helps young dancers:
Grow confidence as they learn new steps and begin to understand how dance works
Build strength, balance, and coordination
Develop rhythm, timing, and musical awareness
Practice classroom skills like following directions, taking turns, and working with a group

Ballet and tap shoes for class (styles listed below)
Hair should always be secured away from the face in a ponytail or bun.
Before Class: Dancers Should be dressed and ready to attend class with the proper attire. We typically begin class with ballet, please have your dance shoes on ready to enter class.
Dancers should use the restroom before class starts.
In My Dance Bag: Dancer should have a water bottle, ballet shoes and tap shoes ONLY. Please do not send snacks, toys or extra items.
